Balance

life
balance
finding center
dancing without falling
playing, praying, searching
moments overflow with pleasure
crash into each other with such force
finding self upside down and inside out
unable to breathe, unable to find the light
twist and turn, find footing, stand tall and firm
the light above shining down with such love
always there for the taking, just waiting
to be noticed again, grasped again
shines down onto crown
filling you whole
entire soul
lit up

Life is fleeting

We are given life and eventually that life is taken away.
The beginning and end are not in our hands.
The middle is entirely ours.

Life is fleeting.
Make the choice today.
Love every minute, every breath, every beautiful gift your life offers.
Choose to make every moment you are in
the best moment of your life.

~ ~ ~

A friend called me yesterday. She was at her mother's house consoling her as they waited for the coroner to take her husband's body away. He suffered a massive heart attack. She was in a state of shock. Her mother was in shock. I was obviously not expecting a call like that.  I responded the only way one can.
I'm so very sorry. I love you. Please let me know what you need and I'll be there for you.

I left that phone call stunned. I have known Tom pretty much my whole life.
Here a whole life.
Gone in an instant.
Perhaps that's why it always surprises us.

~ ~ ~

Sending prayers and hugs to all who were touched by Tom's life.
Whom are pained by his death.
May he rest in peace.

Be Present

Be mindful.
Time is relative.
Often, it is relatively fleeting.

I was riding in the car two nights ago when I noticed the moon.
A huge, low hanging moon overlooking the city.
I am fascinated by the sky and all the wonders it serves up.
I wanted nothing more than to capture that delicious moon.
Rush, rush, rush went the cars.
"Must reach destination." thought my husband.
Me? I was enamored by the moon.
My little digital and I tried and tried but could not capture the moon at such speed.
Instead, we caught the perfect example of what happens when we don't take the time to slow down.

If one is not careful, life can flash by in a blur.

Look back to the past for a moment, plan for the future at times,
but live your life in the present moment.

It's call the Present because it is a gift!

Minute by Minute

Life

Valuable
Fleeting

I had an eye opening first few hours of my day today.
It really has me thinking about life.
The big picture.
The little things.
What matters.

Love
I woke all my children and one by one helped them get ready for school,
hugged them goodbye, told them I loved them and wished them a happy day.

Joy
I stood at the patio door and watched the world through a rain streaked window.
The cold, dreary morning was not bringing me down, rather, I enjoyed watching the raindrops race to the bottom and felt happy to have a warm, safe house from which to watch the cold, dank weather.

Sorrow
I sat at my computer to check on my fellow bloggers.
Tears swelled and ran down my face just as the rain runs down my window.
I found out one of my fellow bloggers was just diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer.
Such a talented, vibrant, wonderful woman.
She needs prayers. I am sending them in mass.

Gratitude
It was so inspiring and touching and important that I plan on using it as a morning meditation.
It is touching, inspiring and beautiful.
Visit the link. You will be moved.

Two little hours were filled with so very much.

Wood Spirit

Hubby is a chainsaw carver.
We started Lorax Carving.

He's been carving for two years now.
Sometimes he carves what he sees in the wood
and sometimes he carves what others request.

One day I asked him to carve me a wood spirit.
He didn't know what I was talking about.
"I want a face coming out of the wood.
As if you are pulling the spirit out of the wood
so we can see it."
He picked a piece of wood.
He had no plan.
He just carved.
As he reached the left eye, the sap ran from the wood.
It was a spiritual moment for him.
He carves, the wood shows him the way.

This is what it showed him that day.

Simplicity

Do you know what this is?
I bet you don't!
I bet most of you have never seen one of these.

I hadn't either until I planted my first vegetable garden a few years ago.
I am in love with growing things but
not so in love with all the rules of gardening.
I tend to be a
fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants
kind of gardener.

I do what I can when I can.
Plant what I want where I want it.
If it grows, it grows.
If it fails, another lesson learned.

What you see pictured above
is the bloom from leaf lettuce allowed to go to seed.
Or should I say, ignored for too long!!!

Isn't it lovely???

I was so taken by the simple beauty of it.
The delicate stems and buds.
The gentle yellow bursting at the tips.
This little flower is less than a centimeter wide.
All that glory in such a tiny little package.

It brought such a smile to my face
that I harvested a bunch
brought it into the house
and put it in a lovely vase.

Simple Beauty
Discovered by letting go.
Living in the moment.

That is what I wish for all of you this weekend.
Let go.
Live in the moment.
Enjoy the simple beauty life has to offer.
