Shit!

I just spent the last 1 1/2 hours trying to play with this photo in photoshop.
Thought I was on to something.
Total failure!
Instead it's being posted unedited.
Perhaps you would like to try? Feel free to use it.

Trying to teach an old dog new tricks is one thing.
Try getting that dog to teach himself!
Now that's a real challenge.

I am self-taught on most everything in life
as that's the way the cards have unfolded for me.
Not a lot of advantages, not a lot of educational opportunities.
Therefore, I teach myself.
I am learning.

Today is teaching me patience.

I am working on a list.
My birthday is coming up.
It is the tenth anniversary of my 29th birthday.
My list will be 40 by 40.
Forty things I want to accomplish by my 40th birthday.
My present to myself is to feel good about 40.
• ∞ • ∞ •
My list will now start...
40 by 40
#1. Learn Photoshop

This post seems rather random in thought.
Guess that's been my thought process lately.
How about you?
What have you learned lately?
What are you working on?
What do you wish to achieve?

I have learned (and I hope it sticks!) that being a fat bitch is ok. :o)

I have learned that I'm actually ok.

I have learned that friends are often more steadfast than family.

I have learned that art is food for the soul.

I think it's a great post and a great idea. I turn 43 next month, so maybe I'll need to do a 44 by 44 list!!!

I also think the best learning we do in life is the learning we seek through our own curiosity and passion, whether it's taking an actual class or teaching ourselves how to take and process a better photo.

I've had a really challenging week, and your post was just what I needed to read today. I need a little patience myself! :)

Hope you're having a beautiful weekend. xo Gigi

You have some great followers and great wisdom.

A positive thirst for knowledge is a wonderful thing, doing something about it brings meaning to that knowledge.

The hardest knowledge to gain very often is to know who we are, for some that can take a lifetime or more..........But it is worh it!

i think blogger ate my first comment...what i think i said was something about 40 x 40 sound goods, tho' i was sad i'd missed the window on that. 44 x 44 just doesn't sound the same.

be careful with PS, i'd advise going with Lightroom first. it's less overwhelming.

i'm the same- self-taught with lots of things. It's frustrating at times, isn't it?! But at the same time it's rewarding...at least that's what I tell myself.

Photoshop is overwhelming. I'll create something interesting and then I always forget how I did it.

Thanks for your interest about the Hot Art show. I hope you can make it! I won't be there for the opening reception, but will go with my family later this month.

I hear ya, Photoshop is not easy! I had to have a friend come over and teach me what to do because, for the life of me, I could not figure out how to use it!! You'd think they could make it a little more user friendly. Good luck!

It is a beautiful picture as is though!!!

i love the title of your post. sometimes that one little word just says it all!

looks like we're tracking pretty closely to each other - 40 is right around the corner on this end. good luck plowing through photoshop! self-taught can be a great way to go about it - it takes a bit more grit, but that can in turn be more rewarding. listen to me. talk about shit - i'm full of it! what do i know? ;)

p.s. this pic looks pretty good to me untouched!

Hello there..just thought I would pop over and say hi! :)
Oh boy...patience is a life long learning lesson for me.

What a great idea for a list. It's a great way to inspire yourself into a full and satisfying life! I should make a list too...I turn 37 in a few months...but if I get started now on a 40 by 40 list, I will have just that much more time to complete it! Sounds like a good plan.

*I'd like to nibble on a bit of that cake there..yum!*
