The Day

The day is over.
Party's done.
Grad's new life has just begun.

Yesterday introduced me to babe in arm.
Today a man with wit and charm.

How time flies.
Life passes by.
Hug 'em
Hold 'em
Love 'em.
They'll be grown and gone in the blink of an eye.

Party's Over - Silly string draped abandoned seats immediately following graduation commencement.

My oldest graduated this past weekend. I'm so proud of him.
The party was a great success and the ceremony absolutely lovely.
I highly recommend placing disposable cameras on the tables of graduation parties for guests to use at whim. I was so busy catering to the needs of 70 plus guests, not only was I unable to converse with anyone, I didn't get a single picture taken! The ceremony was different. Camera was firmly planted to cheek.

My boy! All grown up!
~sigh~

2012

Happy New Year!!!!!

Are you a resolution person?
Do you pick a word for the year?
Do you say, "Not for me." and start your new year
where you left off the old one?

I used to make New Year Resolutions.
They lasted a week (tops).
Perhaps I aimed too high.
Perhaps I didn't take them seriously enough.
Perhaps I made them for all the wrong reason.

A few years ago I discovered the "word of the year" in blogland.
A word for the year.
A chosen word to work with for the year.
To represent the year.
To learn from and grow with over the year.

Two years ago I chose 'positivity'.
Perhaps it chose me.
It was a hard year but with my chosen word,
I was able to find and focus on the positive.
Positivity was a good choice but it did not feel deep or close to me.

Last year I chose the word 'focus' for the simple fact that I lacked any and all.
I figured I would choose it as I needed it desperately.
What did I learn from 'fucus'?
1. boy do I need it!
2. the word works better if it chooses you
 3. in order to focus, you must first know what you're focusing on
4. it's hard to focus with chronic pain
5. with a hubby and four kids, it's nearly impossible to focus!

(By year's end, I had completely forgotten my word, and it was 'focus'. Go figure.)

With 2012 quickly approaching, I started toying with a list of words.
I tried each on for size. Played with them, spoke them, wrote them.
Nothing seemed right so I gave up.
That's when the word of 2012 whispered in my ear.

My word for 2012 is

FAITH

... to be continued.

Do you have a word of the year? A resolution? Please tell!

Spontaneity is awesome.
Lit off some small fireworks with the kids.
No pics included as I was living fully in the moment.
We were by the road enjoying our little show smiling and laughing.
A car drives by. He honks and joins in the celebration.
It was a small show of small fireworks.
I adore happy, spontaneous, fun people.
The happy honking lit my heart and made me giddy.
Thank you Happy Honker for joining in the celebration!
Yeah, I'm weird like that.  ;0)

-4-
Father's Day.
Father's Day was awesome.
My husband is such a great dad.
He is so good to his family.
I love celebrating that!

Double sweet.
Celebrating Father's Day with my StepDad.
He is two years into living with stage four terminal lung cancer.
The pills he is taking are little daily miracles.
I am so thankful that he is still here with us.
Having him as a father has enriched my life more than I can describe.

-5-
Tadpoles turning to tiny frogs.

Reverb - Party

Reverb prompt:

Party. What social gathering rocked your socks off in 2010? Describe the people, music, food, drink, clothes, shenanigans.  Hands down the social gathering that rocked my socks off this year was my birthday!!! I had a Pampered Chef party at my house a few weeks before my birthday and invited family, friends and neighbors. Unbeknown to me, some of the ladies (who didn't even know each other before the evening) got together and planned a surprise night out for my birthday! It was the first time anyone held a birthday celebration for me since I was a child (not including hubs, the kids and I hanging out and eating cake).
It was so much fun! Six ladies dining on the patio of a restaurant eating amazing local fare and drinking micro brew fresh from the tap. We chatted, ate, drank and then hiked up the road to the comedy club where we laughed and laughed and laughed!!! Oh how I love to laugh. It was a fun filled night and made me feel really special. I am so thankful for that evening.
Really wish I had pics but I was so busy livin' in the moment and enjoying the evening, I completely spaced it! Even with camera in hand! That's not such a bad thing though as I have the memories here (points at head) and feel them here (puts hand on heart).  :)

Word of the year goes to....

I was thinking about resolutions for some time before ringing in the new year. First I thought, "Why bother? I never remember to keep one anyways."

Then I came up with a brilliant plan. "If I make a good dozen or so, maybe I'll actually keep one and feel like I accomplished something!"

Truthfully, I wanted to not only have some form of resolution but feel good working toward it. Instead of having a specific goal that seems so rigid for an entire year, I decided on having a New Year's Word.

I tossed several words around. Peace is always a good one. I want it in my life. I want it for the world. The world needs a lot more than me and my resolute year to reach it.

What about Happiness? Who doesn't want to be happy? Happy is good. No. That makes me feel like I am setting myself up to walk around with a false and cheesy smile all year.

Last year was a doozy for most people. Financially, physically, emotionally. There was much loss, many trying times. It was HARD. There were also many, many good times, beautiful memories created and up moments but I was definitely ready to bid 2009 good-bye.

As far as the new year? I have a really good feeling about 2010. It is going to be one heck of a good year! In honor of keeping that feeling alive, I have chosen Positivity as my word for the year in all of its glorious forms.
