Today

I have been sitting at my desk all day today.
Taxes, bills, phone calls.
Busy work.
Boring.

Reflecting on my computer screen from the great outdoors behind me is a beautiful, peaceful snowfall.

Watching the silent snow make its way to the ground covering the world in a blanket of purity, a stirring takes place inside me and the peaceful feeling spreads.

Thank you Mother Nature!
You knew just what I needed today.

Winter came down to our home one night quietly pirouetting in on silvery-toed slippers of snow, and we were children once again. ~Bill Morgan, Jr.

Dreaming

Cue the music!

I'm dreaming of a White Christmas!

I guess I should have clarified 'light and fluffy' vs. 'wet and sloppy'.

At least our tree is Merry and Bright.

Today is a snow day. The kids had all sorts of play dates planned with the idea of snowmen, snow forts and hot chocolate.
The snow came. Then the rain. More snow is scheduled to follow. Right now they would be stuck making slush men, so they are hunkered down with books and crafts.

Today I am thankful for a warm house, the beautiful snow and the love and safety of my gorgeous children.

Apologies

My apologies in advance for the ten tons of snow.
I woke this morning and looked outside.
It was pitch dark and as still as the pages of a bible in an atheist's bookshelf.

But it's coming.
Oh boy is it coming.
I owe an apology to everyone living even remotely close to me.

Darling daughter made me do it.
She read it in a book (children's) so you know it has to be true.
She forced me into a snow dance.

The book said, if the weatherman predicts snow,
in order to guarantee a good amount, before bed you must...
 1.
put your pajamas on backward and inside out
2.
put a spoon under your pillow
3.
tape a penny to your bedroom door
4.
get up on the bed and do the craziest dance you can imagine.

You should have seen us!
It was partay time at our house!!!
I got so wrapped up in the fun, I forgot the point.
Snow? Oh nooooooo!
We shouldn't have danced so hard!

But we did.
So.
I apologize in advance for the snow.

Spring Break

April 18, 2011
Monday
First day of the kid's spring break
Woke up, looked outside.
Where's spring?
Perhaps we should have planned a ski trip!

We've decided to roll with it.
Snowball fights, hot cocoa,
a fire on the patio.
After all, it is quite beautiful!
