Today

I have been sitting at my desk all day today.
Taxes, bills, phone calls.
Busy work.
Boring.

Reflecting on my computer screen from the great outdoors behind me is a beautiful, peaceful snowfall.

Watching the silent snow make its way to the ground covering the world in a blanket of purity, a stirring takes place inside me and the peaceful feeling spreads.

Thank you Mother Nature!
You knew just what I needed today.

Winter came down to our home one night quietly pirouetting in on silvery-toed slippers of snow, and we were children once again. ~Bill Morgan, Jr.

Growing Pains

Looking across my brown, dead, dry, drought stricken lawn, I spotted this beauty basking in the sun.
I dare you to call it a weed! I see a glorious flower! An opportunist! A survivor! Alive!

Growing can be uncomfortable.
Nothing fits quite right.
Intrusive growing pains.
Feeling awkward.
Not sure what to expect.
Emotions all over the map.
Saying goodbye to the old and hello to the new.
Learning to accept the new you while saying goodbye to the old.

I see my children going growing through change all the time.
They are growing up.
It is my job to be there for them.
Support them. Embrace them.
Teach them to accept and love themselves every step of the way.

I now see myself growing through change as well.
Spiritually and mentally.
I am learning it is my job to be there for myself as well.
To accept and love myself every step of the way.
Sometimes it feels awkward, uncomfortable, even hard.

Change is hard. Change is scary.
Sometimes it is absolutely necessary.
As I tear off the old ragged layers and snuggle into the new
I am finding comfort and beauty and happiness.

Lots of growing pains going on at my house.
With each new stretch of growth comes glory.

Beautiful You

You know how you wake up every morning,
go out into the world and share your sunshine?
How you throw compliments that make others blush with pride?
How you lend a hand when you see someone in need?
How you build the confidence of your children with love and praise?
How you see the beauty in everyone you meet?
How you appreciate the gift of friendship and let your friends feel your appreciation?
How you love and accept every flaw in Mother Nature not as a flaw but as perfectly imperfect?

Will you do me a favor this morning?
Before you head out the door,
will you look in the mirror
and start there?

Throw yourself compliments and watch yourself blush.
Do you see need in your eyes? Fill that need.
Give yourself the love and praise you deserve and the confidence will follow.
Look at the beauty that is looking back at you.
Appreciate yourself as the best friend you could have.
Love and accept every perfect imperfection you were blessed with.

Start with beautiful you.

Motherhood Is Beautiful

I drove through downtown last week and spotted this bird nesting on a cross light.
She found a warm spot with a roof over head to build her nest.
The traffic is hustle bustle and the light blinks...
On   Off   On   Off   On   Off
The day was so hot and muggy she had to keep her mouth agape to cool herself.
With all the chaos and discomfort she stayed vigilant.

I was completely taken by her.
Motherhood truly is beautiful.

No matter!

Will be on my iPod and etched in my brain soon.
