Trying

I have been trying to post for some time. I miss this space. It has proven quite hard to find the quiet time and peace of mind to delve into writing lately. Here is a short list of reasons why
1. a week of bronchitis followed by a week of a wicked virus
2. root canal turned jaw infection cured by second antibiotic
3. threw out my lower back making daily chores feel like daily nightmares and setting me further behind
4. a week of bad news around the country bombarding me while I fought flood waters in my basement
5. three kids home sick today (praying I am spared this go-round)

I have quite a few posts in the draft stage. The 'writing zone' has eluded me lately. When a quiet moment presents itself, I have been inclined to grab a mug of something warm and dive into a book, if only for a moment. Temporary escape at its finest.

Holy Head Cold Hannah!

A tiny bit of a bug
has taken up residency in my skull
wreaking havoc on my thoughts
and creating a misfit of actions.

I spent the entire day (yesterday) wrapped in blankets
thinking it was Monday,
missing appointments,
letting my helpless laundry go stagnant in the washer.

I ate soup, took naps, vegged on a movie
and read books when my brain allowed the words to appear normal.
I whined, I complained.
I drank kombucha, ate garlic and flushed my system
with as much fluid as my bladder could handle (and then some).

If I don't attack the cold, the cold attacks me
and I will end up with bronchitis (again) or worse,
pneumonia (which I have had three times).

Woke this morning to progress.
That little bug is packing his bags.
Eviction process is in full swing.

I'm sparing you any pictures.
;0)

My apologies for the lack of substance in this post. Guess I just missed it here and wanted to say, "Hello Friends! I miss you!"

Playing

Hi all.

I hope I was not misleading with my lettuce flower picture from my previous post. Nope. I don't live somewhere dreamy and warm. That picture was taken during the summer. My back yard currently looks like this!

The past few days have seen quite a bit of downtime. Mother Nature has dished out a small snowstorm and a couple of viruses have chosen our house to host their latest party. With the weather outside being frightful, I've been spending a few stolen moments doing something delightful!

I have been rediscovering photoshop thanks to Kim Klassen and her awesome Skinny-Mini course. She offers several other great Photoshop courses as well and is a wonderful teacher! She also offers textures and tutorials. You really must check her out.

Here's an example of what I have been up to.

The picture from last post...

The picture with textures added and played with. I also added a quote from John's E-book My Eternal Journey which you can find more information about at the bottom of his blog page.

 How cool is that?!?!?!!!!!
