Flip-Flop

Mama Brain
I was hungry for lunch which reminded me I had to put the chili in the crock-pot for supper.
Headed to the basement to retrieve crock-pot.
Hit the bottom of the stairs and remembered I needed to change the load of laundry.
Opened laundry room door and realized hubby still didn't fix florescent plant lights as requested.
(keep plants alive locked away w/false light due to cat who eats plants & ends up deathly ill)
Checked out lights myself and couldn't find the fix.
Changed load of laundry.
Changed full laundry room garbage bag (tomorrow is garbage day).
Headed up stairs with laundry basket in one arm and garbage bag in other.
Hit top of stairs and remembered I originally went down there for the blasted crock-pot which was not under EITHER arm!!!!
Went back down to fetch crock-pot.
Answered phone call for hubby's business (yup. one of my hats is 'secretary').
Caller was heading over and requested I gather some flyers before he arrived.
Gathered flyers and business cards.
Proceeded to put chili ingredients into crock-pot.
Realized this whole train of thought started with the fact I was hungry for lunch.
Now that I was STARVING for lunch, I grabbed the closest thing at the front of the fridge as I knew I only had a moment before customers would arrive.
As I closed the fridge with containers in hand, I stepped on something squishy. My overworked mind thought, "Aaack!!! That better not be a mouse!" which is a silly thought since we've never had a mouse in the house.
Alas, it was only a half filled balloon left on the floor with umpteen other odds and ends from the kids.

This is how my mind works throughout the day. Spinning, swirling, twirling with all there is to do and think about with an active and creative family of six.

Funny thing. For all I forget or cannot focus on, there are those bizarre thoughts that never seem to leave! An example would be the thought... "we're out of Cream of Tartar". Time and time again I will go to the store remembering we're out of something and completely forget the more recent "I already purchased that last time." So this is what my cupboards tend to look like.

Three of this, three of that, half a dozen of another and none of what I need.
And what the heck have I ever used cream of tartar in anyway??????
Calgon!!!! Take me Awayyyyyyyyyy!!!!!

That is just a fraction of minutes in a day. Compound that by the fact there are 24 hrs. in a day and factor in the time when four kids are home to boot. What do you have? A flip-floppin' mama brain!

Space

I've been wanting to share something dynamic lately.
A brilliant thought.
Some groundbreaking news.
A vision so amazing you have to blink and look again.

My thoughts swirl and twirl lately.
I have so much on my mind
yet when I come to this place of sharing
I am left with what feels like wide open space.

Everything comes to mind.
Nothing comes to mind.

Do you ever have times where you just can't seem to reign in your thoughts?
What do you do to remedy the situation?
or do you just go with it?

confession

Hi.
My name is Lynn.
It's been six days since my last post.

Ooops!
Wrong group!
Tee hee!
;)

I've been reflecting a lot lately.
It has me a bit discombobulated
which causes a lack of ability to form coherent thoughts.
The reflecting reminds me a bit of our neglected pool.
Pool / Life
looks inviting
but it's been neglected
pool cover / emotional wall
has a hole allowing water to escape / has a hole allowing inside out

figure perhaps it's wisest to remove
pull off cover / break down wall
pool is green underneath / exposes buried feelings, dreams
what a mess
must clean up
how to start?

overwhelmed
give up
start drowning

see the ladder
it's just a reflection

wallow
desperate
fear drowning
remember I can swim
start swimming
swimming
swimming

all the swimming is building muscles
making me stronger
see net just out of reach
stretch, reach, fight
grab net
a tool
start sifting

that's where I'm at
sifting...

Random

It's been random here lately. Random events going on, random thoughts running through my head, random people in and out, random schedule of blog posting.

More Random...

1. Oh my darling clementine.... I thought you were lost and gone forever...
then I found you at the bottom of the fruit bowl.
Yuck!!!! But kinda cool!

2.  I promised my teenager that if the Packers made it to the superbowl, I would build a snack stadium. At the time I didn't know what a snack stadium was, just that my husband and eldest were in love with them. After the Packers won the playoffs, I did my research, produced a stadium and literally ATE MY WORDS!!!! Yum!

3.  Mini-snowstorm out of nowhere. Was not predicted but gave us another five inches worth of shoveling to do. Oh my achy breaky back!

4. Random thoughts keep running through my mind such as... "I really need to make more money. Perhaps I could sell my soul to the devil... except I'm pretty sure the cat already stole it when I had a stare down with him last week."

5.  I've been receiving phone calls I don't normally receive and not receiving phone calls I normally would. Could it be the moon?

6. My dreams are trying to tell me something lately but they forgot to add the interpreter!

7.  You really must check out a very generous and special opportunity to win the gorgeous print pictured below. Head over to the artist's blog HERE to find out how to enter the drawing.

gaining sight
cresting peacefully

straight runs
you catch your breath

what a ride!
you scream
you cry
you throw your arms in the air with glee

up down

 what a thrill
leaving you wanting more

in the end you know
you had but one ticket to ride

Thursday's Thought

LOST

Lost.
I'm lost.
Can you see me?
Can you find me?

I am guessing not
since I myself
have been looking for years
and still have not found me.

I'm getting closer.
I can feel it.
Little bits peeking out.
Hints of where I am
who I am.

So I continue my journey
seeking, searching,
calling.

Hello! Hello?
Can you hear me?
You can?
Maybe I'm not quite as lost
as I thought!
