Reverb prompt:
Everything’s OK - What was the best moment that could serve as proof that everything is going to be alright? And how will you incorporate that discovery into the year ahead?  I should probably go with the first moment that popped into my head. I am going to go back to my earlier post about our van trip to Colorado. When we arrived with a broken van that kept on breaking I felt miserable. Sad for the kids, mad at the van, guilty that my husband, cousin, uncle and son were spending days on end working on a vehicle, frustrated that our vacation fund was being spent on vehicle repairs. None of those negative feelings lasted more than a fleeting moment. Everyone came together and embraced the challenge. The kids were happy to visit with family and hang out at my aunt's house. The men bonded over the engine puzzling, telling stories and laughing. The women took care of the kids, the meals, the men, and the chatting. No one saw it as a burden. Everyone took it in stride. Just one of those things. We had down time after a long trip. With the money spent, we changed our itinerary from deep mountain travel with camping, shopping, tourism to a more relaxed itinerary of day trips to closer locations for free fishing, hiking, basking, site seeing. We had picnics, we told stories, we relaxed, we laughed. It was absolutely perfect!
Knowing that when life hands this family lemons we have the ability come together wherever we are with whatever we have available and make vats of delicious, sweet, lemonade with a recipe full of laughter and love. That truly is the sweetest kind.

How to incorporate it into the year ahead? Simple. The knowledge is there. Use it!

Shit!

I just spent the last 1 1/2 hours trying to play with this photo in photoshop.
Thought I was on to something.
Total failure!
Instead it's being posted unedited.
Perhaps you would like to try? Feel free to use it.

Trying to teach an old dog new tricks is one thing.
Try getting that dog to teach himself!
Now that's a real challenge.

I am self-taught on most everything in life
as that's the way the cards have unfolded for me.
Not a lot of advantages, not a lot of educational opportunities.
Therefore, I teach myself.
I am learning.

Today is teaching me patience.

I am working on a list.
My birthday is coming up.
It is the tenth anniversary of my 29th birthday.
My list will be 40 by 40.
Forty things I want to accomplish by my 40th birthday.
My present to myself is to feel good about 40.

My list will now start...
40 by 40
#1. Learn Photoshop

This post seems rather random in thought.
Guess that's been my thought process lately.
How about you?
What have you learned lately?
What are you working on?
What do you wish to achieve?

Temper Tantrum

Aaaaahhhh........!!!!!
That feels soooo much better!

Threw myself a little temper tantrum.
Nothing nasty or violent,
just a healthy shredding of paper
to make my head feel straight
and my heart feel better.

I have always wanted to create cards.
Recently I had some prints made
specifically to put on card stock
to create cards I could sell in my Etsy Shop.

I painstakingly trimmed each photo to size.
Carefully applied adhesive to every stinkin' millimeter of each photo
and ever so carefully applied the photos to the card stock.
I placed the cards under heavy weight books to keep flat while drying.

Yesterday I retrieved the cards to find
every stinkin' envelope warped and stuck
to it's corresponding photo card.
Aaack!!!

*note to self and all reading - do not use moist glue to adhere pictures to card stock

I am going to re-order more photos
re-print more pictures
purchase an entirely different form of adhesive
and I will be on my way
to card production once again.

Life's hard when you live it self-taught!

p.s. I'm thinking of this adhesive for my next try. What do you think? ;)
