Kids Ask The Cutest Questions

Kids ask the cutest questions and I adore them for it! Here is a conversation with my 3rd born son from last week.

C-man (with a rather inquisitive look on his face): "Mommy?"
Me: "Yes honey."
C-man: "Is there really such a thing as stink lines?"
Me: "Stink lines?"
C-man: "Yeah. You know. The lines that come off of someone who is really smelly."
Me: "Oh." trying desperately hard not to laugh "No honey. No such thing."

This particular son of mine is quite the sensitive soul and does not care to be laughed at. I remained stoic until he left the room at which time I ran directly to his father....

"OMG!!!! You'll never believe what C just asked me!!! OMG!!! He is so stinkin' cute!!!!"

I tend to be quite visual. A big part of the reason I found the question so funny is due to the fact that I instantly imagined him walking around this whole time looking for 'stink lines' on people to see if they truly exist. I honestly don't believe I ever thought 'stink lines' were a 'real' thing. Then again, I wasn't obsessed with Garfield cartoons either.

In honor of C-man, I would like to introduce you to Candy!

If ever there were a creature worthy of stink lines, it would be Candy. She's an old beagle that lives in our neighborhood. We became acquainted with her through numerous yard escapes. The first time she showed up at our door she stunk to high heaven! You could hardly get near her as she was covered in something with an unGodly smell. We called the vet on her rabies tag. They tracked down the owners. Several years later and many more visits, (we have since exchanged info. w/the owners as they always call us when she disappears and we now know where to return her), she shows up as if visiting old friends, always stinking.  It's as if she stops and rolls in all the local dog piles on her way over.

Darling Daughter walking Candy on one of her visits.  We had to wait for the owners to return home to return her.

Candy, you are such an absolute sweetheart but that scent you wear does not do you justice!

Umm... yeah... What do you think?

Any of my readers have teenagers?

My son knows I love music so he played me a song.
I instantly took to it. Such an upbeat tempo and fun sound.
My hearing sucks so my son knew by my exuberant reaction
I was most likely not hearing the words clearly.
So he asked, "Do you know what they're saying?"
Me, "um... not really, but it sounds pretty fun!"
Son, "here are the lyrics"
And he showed them to me.
And I was a little disturbed.
I'm not sure how to feel.

The song is so upbeat sounding.
The message so dark.
I'm all for freedom of expression
but the views on this video are like 40 MILLION!!!!
The youth are listening and listening hard.

Do they hear a serious message?
Do they hear fun?
Do they take it as freedom of expression?
or
Do they feel empowered and imagine how good it would feel?

It's just such a bizarre feeling for me as I like the sound,
the feel, the beat,
except...
it's giving all that upbeat entertainment with dark lyrics.
Perhaps that is what it's supposed to do.
Get me thinking, discussing, questioning.

Below is the video and lyrics that have me thinking.
What's your view?

For all you peeps (like me) not up on today's teen lingo,
"pumped up kicks" (according to my son) are expensive tennis shoes worn by the "rich kids".
Then again, we're small town folk so what does he know.  ;0)

Pumped Up Kicks (lyrics)
Foster The People

Robert's got a quick hand.
He's looking 'round the room, he won't tell you his plan.
He's got a rolled cigarette, hanging out his mouth he's a cowboy kid.
Yeah, he found a six shooter gun.
In his dad's closet with a box of fun things, I don't even know what.
But he's coming for you, yeah, he's coming for you.

[Chorus x2:]
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks,
you'd better run, better run,
outrun my gun.
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks,
you'd better run, better run,
faster than my bullet.

Daddy works a long day.
He's coming home late, yeah, he's coming home late.
And he's bringing me a surprise.
His dinner's in the kitchen and it's packed in ice.

I've waited for a long time.
Yet the slide of my hand is now a quick pulled trigger,
I reason with my cigarette,
And say your hair's on fire, you must have lost your wits, yeah.

[Chorus x2:]
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks,
you'd better run, better run,
outrun my gun.
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks,
you'd better run, better run,
faster than my bullet.

Run, run, run, run, ru- ru- ru- run, run, run, ru- ru- ru- run, run, run,
ru- ru- ru- run, ru- run, run, run, run. [Whistling]

[Chorus x3:]
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks,
you'd better run, better run,
outrun my gun.
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks,
you'd better run, better run,
faster than my bullet.

Question... seeking answer.

Short on time.
Had to post.
Seeking answer.
This is the sunset I watched the other night.
Photo is untouched.
Straight out of the camera.

Stripes!!!!!
I was fascinated.
I have many other shots.
All the same.
What could have caused this?
Have you ever seen a sunset like this?
What is it called?

It is a mystery to me.

Should I or Shouldn't I?

That sums up a lot of my life. I have been know to say that I am the second worst decision maker in the world married to the worst! Between the two of us I am suprised anything ever gets accomplished! This blog is a good example. I thought about having this blog for a long time. I thought and thought and thought. A lot of what I do is cranial and lacking in action. I question everything! Suprisingly, after much thought and swallowing down the big lump of fear and doubt, I did it! I started this blog.

The idea was to have a place to jot down all the "stuff" that floats around in my head. In 3D land my experience with this is quite chaotic. I do a lot of thinking in the shower since it's the only place I am ever alone (for the most part). I write on the shower walls but it tends to wash away and once I am done showering and shut the door, my musings are literally "out of sight, out of mind". I write on scraps of paper or fill random notebooks but this ends up being a very scattered and disorganized manner of keeping track of thoughts. Thinking a blog would be a good outlet (everything is in one place and I am finally putting myself out in the world creatively) led me to question everything about it.

Oooooh, I hate criticism and tend to take it too personally so it doesn't feel safe. What if what I write something and then change my mind about it later? There are soooo many blogs out there, what if no one reads mine? What if someone does? What if no one relates? What if a lot of people relate? What if I have nothing to say? What if I come across as a whack job? Does any of it matter? Why would I want to publicize random thoughts? Wouldn't it be great if others found it a safe place to share their random thoughts with me?

The initial intention was to name the blog "Cranial Vomit" as that is what I was thinking. When you have eaten too much whether self induced or mom making you finish your plate or your caring grandmother force feeding you because your slightly overweight frame looks "too skinny" for her, eventually your stomach must relieve itself of the contents and... you vomit. Such a harsh word. I thought it was catchy, memorable, made sense to me but the response from the few people I questioned was not good. So I opted for purge. Cranial purge is the ridding of ones mind of overindulgence in thought whether self-inflicted (living in your head) or fed by others (media, friends and family, whatever).

Not sure if any of this makes sense to anyone but me. I guess that's what this blog is about! If you get it, welcome and feel free to purge along with me! Please be nice to each other (and to me). Loving vibes are the best vibes.

If you find yourself saying "WTF?" thanks for checking it out anyways. Peace and love to ya as you move on to other bigger and better blogs!
